Liverpool John Moores put in a very strong performance against Sheffield Hallam, resulting in an impressive 56-0 win.
John Moores not only showed strong defence to keep out Sheffield for the full 80 minutes, but managing to cross for a total of nine tries shows why they sit second in Northern 1A, with a game in hand against Northumbria who sit on top.
Both Jamal Mckenzie (2), and Lee Rusowicz scored their first tries of the season. Other scorers were Sam Quick, Jack Bond, Jimmy Evans, who also bagged a brace, Luke Andrusjak and man-of-the-match Tom Dempsey.
Dempsey scored a total of 20 points, which earned him the home side's Man of the Match award. His try was his third of the season so far, while Jimmy Evans is now on a total of six for the season.
Sheffield Hallam sit second bottom of Northern 1A and had to face strong opposition with just 13 men available. But their chairman Joe Burns said of his team: "They showed a lot of heart and teamwork," with Sean Joyce their Man of the Match.
Liverpool John Moores captain Joe Furlong added: "Our goal-line defence was outstanding, and in their half we looked dangerous whenever we had the ball.
"Discipline needs to be better but, on the whole, a solid performance from the boys."
There were no other fixtures in Northern 1A or Northern 2A.
Next week, Edge Hill are at home to Lancaster in 2A.
