Rochdale and Toulouse play out thrilling draw
Rhys Curran scored a hat-trick but Rochdale Hornets became the first side to deny Toulouse victory in Kingstone Press League 1 this season as the sides played out an entertaining 28-28 draw.
Curran went over after three minutes, Kuni Minga ran the length of the field to add a breakaway effort, and Curran completed his brace inside 20 minutes as the French side - who had conceded just six points in winning their first three fixtures and dumped Championship outfit Leigh out of the Challenge Cup last weekend - threatened to run away with it.
James Tilley crashed over to get Rochdale back in the game and a Tom Lineham brace brought the scores level at half-time, before Jono Smith and Danny Yates gave the hosts a second-half lead only for Toulouse to edge in front late on thanks to tries from Gregory White and Curran.
But Rochdale equalised thanks to a penalty from Paul Crook two minutes before the end.
Rochdale centre Lewis Galbraith claimed he was bitten during the game and the incident was put on report.
