Toronto Wolfpack can seal the Kingstone Press League 1 title and thus clinch promotion to the Championship on Saturday, if they can beat Barrow Raiders in a 1st v 2nd clash in the League 1 Super 8s.
Paul Rowley’s men have a two-point advantage with two games to go and can ensure their progression up to the second tier with one game to spare.
Barrow are the only team to have travelled to Toronto twice in 2017 but suffered a heavy 70-2 defeat when they visited during the regular season back in May.
On Sunday, Doncaster can secure their spot in the League 1 play-offs if they can defeat Newcastle Thunder at the Keepmoat Stadium. Thunder won the return fixture 20-10 back in July.
Keighley Cougars’ remote chances of making the play-offs rely on a win at home to Workington, coupled with a Doncaster defeat. Cougars player Alex Szostak could make his 200th career appearance in this match.
The other League 1 Super 8s fixture on Sunday sees 3rd place Whitehaven host 4th place York City Knights. The Cumbrians won their regular season meeting 18-16 back in June.
London Skolars and Hunslet can guarantee their League 1 Shield final spots if they both win this weekend.
Skolars are aiming to make it eight wins on the spin when they host University of Gloucestershire All Golds on Saturday whilst Hunslet travel to Hemel Stags on Sunday.
Saturday’s two other League 1 Shield games feature the Welsh derby as South Wales Ironmen face North Wales Crusaders in Llanelli whilst Oxford entertain Coventry Bears.
