England Men's Super League Preview | Round 22

Round 22 of the Betfred Super League takes place this weekend and will feature some of your England stars. Here is a look at which could take centre stage this weekend.

Ryan Hall will not feature on Thursday for Hull KR. The winger has returned to training and is expected to face his former side, Leeds Rhinos next weekend.

Friday

Wigan Warriors v Warrington Wolves – Live on Sky Sports – 8PM

Wigan Warriors will host Warrington Wolves in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday evening. Matt Peet has named second rower, Liam Farrell in his squad and Farrell is expected to start in his usual spot.

Former Warrington man, Mike Cooper, has also been named in the squad. Cooper scored his first try for the Cherry and Whites last weekend.

Meanwhile for Warrington, if former Wigan man George Williams features, it would be 250 career appearances for the half-back. Of his 249 current career appearances, 11 have been for England.

Stefan Ratchford is just one try away from 100 Super League tries.

Jake Wardle and Matty Ashton were both on the scoresheet last weekend and are expected to start.

 

Sunday

St Helens v Castleford Tigers – Live on Channel 4 – 1PM

The Saints will host Castleford Tigers on Sunday afternoon in a fixture which will be shown live on Channel 4.

Tommy Makinson returns to the squad after being absent due to injury. Makinson is one try away from 150 in his Super League career.

Jack Welsby and Alex Walmsley both were on the scoresheet during the defeat to Salford. The duo are expected to feature for the Saints on Sunday.

Matty Lees and James Batchelor have been a regular sight in the starting line-up for St Helens, they are also due to start for Saints.

In opposition, Paul McShane has been a regular feature for many years at hooker for Castleford. He has been crucial in certain victories for the Tigers and will be looking to do the same again on Sunday.

 

Wakefield Trinity v Catalans Dragons – 3PM

Catalans Dragons will make the trip over to West Yorkshire to face Wakefield Trinity at the Be Well Support Stadium.

Sam Tomkins converted six goals last weekend during the Dragons defeat to Leeds. Tomkins is an important part of Steve McNamara’s side and will be expected to see him in that regular fullback spot.

Mike McIlorum has returned to the side and assisted a try last weekend. He will be looking to feature again for Catalans on Sunday

 

Leeds Rhinos v Salford Red Devils – 3PM

Both Leeds Rhinos and Salford Red Devils produced impressive victories last weekend. Leeds came back from behind to win in golden point. Meanwhile, Salford produced a dominant display against league leaders, St Helens.

Mikolaj Oledzki made 100 metres from just 11 carries last week. He will be hoping for a similar performance on Sunday.

Meanwhile for Salford, former Leeds man, Kallum Watkins, will be hoping to continue his good form this season. Watkins has impressed since moving into the second row and he scored twice during Salford’s success over St Helens last Sunday.
