University Representative Programme 2018 Applications now open

As in the two previous seasons, the England Universities Representative programme starts with the Regional stages of the campaign.

The Regional stages consist of three full 80-minute games, which are as below:

  • North West Vs North East
  • South East Vs South West
  • Yorkshire Vs Midlands

These games will be played on the weekend of 24th/25th November or 1st/2nd December 2018. The second playing opportunity will be a North Vs South Origin game.

The origin teams will be a squads of 20-24 selected from the Regional games. The composition of the Origin Squads will be as follows:

  • North | North West, North East and Yorkshire
  • South | South East, South West and Midlands

The Origin game will be played at the start of February and details of this will be announced in due course.

From the Origin Game, the England Universities squad will be selected for 2019. England Universities will then look to defend their crown in the Rugby Football League's President's Cup and 4 Nations tournaments.

There are some exciting opportunities within the Rep Programme again this year.

These are:

The Origin coaches will be selected from the Regional coaching teams.

Some key dates to look out for are:

  • 28th September 2018 - Closing date for regional vacancies
  • 3rd/4th November 2018 - Regional Trials
  • 24th/25th November or 1st/2nd December 2018 - Regional Games
  • Origin Squads Announced by the 21st December 2018
  • 2nd/3rd February 2019 – Origin Game

February/March 2019 | England Squad Announced

April/May/June 2019

22nd/30th June 2019 | 4 Nations (Ireland)

REGIONAL HEAD COACH

To act as the Head Coach to the University Rugby League Regional Representative team, including the selection and preparation of the squad and for the management of the coaching and support staff.

You will:

  • • Possess a minimum of level 2 RFL Coaching Licence.
  • • Have experience of coaching at a representative level.
  • • Have Access to a Facility for Training and Trials
  • • Have excellent preparation, planning and management skills.
  • • Be a good communicator
  • * Be available for the Regional Trials on the weekend of the 3rd / 4th November 2018
  • * Be available for the Regional Games

REGIONAL ASSISTANT COACH

To act as the Assistant Coach to the University Rugby League Regional Representative team including the selection and preparation of the squad and for the management of the coaching and support staff.

You will:

• Possess a RFL Coaching Licence.

• Have Access to a Facility for Training and Trials

• Have excellent preparation, planning and management skills.

• Be a good communicator.

* Be available for the Regional Trials on the weekend of the 3rd / 4th November 2018

* Be available for the Regional Games.

REGIONAL TEAM MANAGER

To act as the Team Manager to the University Rugby League Regional Representative team including the organisation and administration of training sessions and fixtures, you will act as the point of contact between the students and the coaching staff.

You will:

  • * Have experience managing a team.
  • * Have excellence organisation, planning and management skills
  • * Have Access to a Facility for Training and Trials
  • * Be a good communicator
  • * Be available for the Regional Trials on the weekend of the 3rd / 4th November 2018
  • * Be available for the Regional Games

Appointments will be made subject to an enhanced DBS check.
