Hull FC player Scott Taylor has set his sights on another Wembley appearance ahead of his team’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Quarter-final against Castleford Tigers on Sunday at the KCOM Stadium (3.00pm).
The prop has two Ladbrokes Challenge Cup finals medals to his name, following victories with Wigan Warriors in 2013 and last year’s winners Hull FC. Taylor is set to make his return from injury on Sunday and can’t wait to be back in action.
He said: “I don’t like missing games, it’s the first time for a number of years that I’ve had a proper injury that’s kept me side-lined for a long period of time.
“It’s been hard watching from the stands so I can’t wait to be back on the field with the boys and hopefully be part of another cup win.
“It means a lot to the team to have the Challenge Cup title, for me it was a dream come true. It was really good to win trophies with Wigan but the feeling of winning with Hull FC, the team I supported growing up, was ten times better.
“We know it’ll be a tough job but it’s our trophy at the minute and we want to retain it.”
Hull FC are one of only three teams to defeat Castleford this season but Taylor is aware of the threat they will pose on Sunday.
“Castleford are top of the table and they deserve to be there, they’re knocking out results week in, week out so at the moment it’s probably the hardest team we could’ve faced in the Quarter-finals.
“We know what to expect, we’ve got to be at our best to beat them and a lot of the lads playing on Sunday were involved in the cup run last year, hopefully that will give us a good chance of winning.
“At the end of the day, it’s two good teams with two great coaches, all we can do is turn up and do our best and I’ve got a feeling if we can do that we can get the win.”
The semi-final draw will also be broadcast on BBC Two on Sunday following the completion of Hull FC v Castleford Tigers.
